About Rachel
As a RDN trained at Virginia Tech, I bring 15 years of experience working in hospitals, corporate wellness programs, and community health. That mix helps me translate clinical knowledge into realistic routines you can use at home, at work, and on the go. Outside of counseling, I enjoy walking/hiking with my dog, practicing yoga, cooking with my family, leading my daughter's Girl Scout Troop, serving on the PTA, and listening to true crime podcasts.
Approach to care
Nutrition should be grounded in evidence, delivered with compassion, and built for the long haul. I use current research and proven approaches to design clear, practical steps we'll try together, while honoring a weight-neutral, Health At Every Size perspective. I pay attention to sleep, stress, emotions, and environment so we can address the whole person. Sessions are warm and nonjudgmental, and I teach skills that empower you to make lasting, sustainable changes.
Your first session with Rachel
We'll have a relaxed, conversational visit where I review your medical history and daily routines so we can see the full picture. I like to take a deep dive into your relationship with food, asking about wins and frustrations so we can identify practical shifts. Together we'll choose one or two short-term goals that feel doable, and you'll leave with clear next steps. There is no pressure to have it all figured out, this is a judgment-free space where we move at your pace.
