About Meagan
I became a dietitian because of my own journey and struggle with weight and nutrition, which gave me a deep understanding of how hard lasting change can be. That experience shaped my passion for helping others build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food and their bodies. I’ve been a dietitian for 6 years after earning my Masters of Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill. I work with both bariatric and GLP-1 patients. As someone who is also on a GLP-1, I bring both personal and professional insight to the work I do. I’m especially passionate about supporting people who are ready to do the deep work that lasting health often requires. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, traveling, physical fitness, and crafts.
Approach to care
I use evidence-based research to help give you the most proven and beneficial guidance while keeping sessions warm, practical, and nonjudgmental. We’ll focus on small, doable changes that build sustainable habits over time, rather than quick fixes. I take a behavior-focused approach, which means our work is centered on realistic changes that fit your unique life vs unrealistic expectations created by diet culture. If weight loss is desired by a client, a behavior-focused approach means that weight loss is a side effect, but no longer the main focus. The main focus will be the small habit changes we tweak a little at a time so that together we'll address the whole person, blending education, actionable strategies, and accountability so you feel empowered to make long-term change.
Your first session with Meagan
Expect a welcoming, low-pressure conversation where we'll review your medical history, any lab work, and take a careful look at your relationship with food. Our sessions are always a judgment free zone, so please come being open to providing honest information about what has worked and what hasn't, and what you are currently doing, and what you aren't. Being honest in your appointments is the only way we can work together to make a change. From there we'll establish short-term, realistic goals and outline practical next steps you can try. If you're on GLP-1 medications or are post-bariatric surgery, I'll tailor plans to those realities while keeping sustainability and your long-term goals front and center.
