About Mary Catherine
Thirty-three years working as a Registered Dietitian taught me that people thrive when nutrition advice meets real life. I hold a PhD in Adult Education and an MS in Nutritional Science, and I work as an RD and LDN after roles in clinical hospitals, research and academia, sports nutrition, and as a long-term, renal dialysis and rehabilitation consultant. When I'm not working, I enjoy baking, exercising, and tending my garden, which keeps my approach practical and grounded.
Approach to care
Evidence guides the plans I recommend, and empathy shapes how we reach them together. I translate current research into clear, practical steps we'll try, prioritizing sustainable habits over short-term fixes. I use a weight-neutral, behavior-focused lens and consider emotional, physical, and lifestyle factors. Education is central, so you gain the tools to make informed choices and we adjust plans based on real-world results.
Your first session with Mary Catherine
When you arrive expect a warm, relaxed conversation where I listen to understand your goals and barriers. We'll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics, and together we'll establish short-term goals. From there we'll create a practical meal plan and outline action-oriented steps you can try between visits. This is a judgment-free space, and you do not need to have everything figured out before we meet.
