About Julia
I am a former emotional eater turned dietitian. I healed my relationship with food and my body using mindfulness practice over 15 years ago, losing over 100 pounds in the process. My memoir "What You're Looking for is Not in the Fridge!: How I Found Myself When I Stopped Looking There" (2017, Grocki, Julia) depicts my journey and gives practical tips on how to move forward with your own. My background in chemistry gives me a strong understanding of what happens in our body as we nourish ourselves. As an RDN and LDN I’ve practiced in hospitals, private clinics, and academia, and I bring over two years of telehealth experience so we can meet where it’s easiest for you. Outside of work I recharge with photography, reading, writing, meditation and yoga. One of my favorite things to do is remind everyone that it is okay to be human!
Approach to care
The nutrition plan that works for you sits at the junction of solid science and real life. I use evidence-based guidance to create straightforward, practical steps, while keeping our conversations warm and nonjudgmental. We’ll focus on sustainable habits that last, not quick fixes, and I work from a weight-neutral perspective that centers behaviors and wellbeing. Together we'll address mental, emotional, and physical factors. I make space to teach the "why" behind recommendations so you feel confident making choices that fit your life.
Your first session with Julia
We’ll begin by reviewing your medical history and discuss your relationship with food, all in a judgment-free, low-pressure conversation. I listen carefully as you tell your story so we can spot patterns, strengths, and barriers. Together we’ll choose one or two realistic, sustainable steps to try before the next visit. Whether we meet virtually or in person, expect a warm, practical session that leaves you reassured and with clear next steps.
