About Erika
Food and nutrition science have been intertwined in my life since I earned my BS in Nutrition and Dietetics at Radford University. I have over 15 years in the nutrition field and 13 years working as a registered dietitian. I've worked in hospital systems and dialysis facilities to conducting nutrition research, shaping a practical, evidence-informed lens I bring to every patient. I also hold the additional credential of Certified Nutrition Support Specialist (CNSC). This additional training and certification allows me to help patients with complex nutritional needs such as those using enteral nutrition (tube feedings). Outside of work you'll find me salsa dancing, reading, or experimenting in the kitchen. Celiac disease is a personal cause for me, and I love working with fellow celiacs!
Approach to care
Evidence guides the plans I recommend, and empathy shapes how we get there. I work in a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size framework, focusing on sustainable habits rather than quick fixes or rigid rules. We'll translate research and clinical experience into clear, practical steps you can maintain long term, while addressing the whole person, emotional context, and day-to-day realities. I aim to educate you so decisions feel informed, realistic, and empowering, and we hold each other accountable with kindness and clarity.
Your first session with Erika
Expect a warm, low-pressure conversation where we'll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics you have. We'll take a deep dive into your relationship with food, discuss current supplements, and identify 1 to 2 short-term goals that feel workable in your life. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet. Together we'll leave with a clear, practical starting plan and the next steps to build lasting change.
