About Donna
Hi and welcome! I’m Donna, an RDN with 25 years of experience in clinical nutrition and advanced training in obesity and weight management. Over the course of my career— and through my own life experiences, I can appreciate how difficult it can be to maintain a healthy lifestyle especially during the peri/post menopause transition. These experiences have shaped my professional focus in weight management and fueled my passion for supporting women with evidenced-based compassionate guidance tailored to their changing bodies and lifestyles. I also have extensive experience helping both women and men achieve metabolic and cardiovascular health with practical nutrition strategies that improve cholesterol and blood sugar control. As both a clinician and lifelong food lover, I believe that enjoying good food should be a part of the wellness journey. That passion led me to create the popular Spoonful of Plants blog which features easy, healthy and delicious recipes.
Approach to care
I take a compassionate, nonjudgemental, non-diet, but evidenced-based approach that relies on creating sustainable, long term changes in diet and lifestyle to help you reach your health and nutrition goals. This will include reviewing your medical and diet history, lifestyle habits, labs, and any other documentation needed to develop a care plan tailored just for you.
Your first session with Donna
The first session is all about getting to know you, including personal struggles and health concerns. This session lays the foundation for a strong, supportive partnership. Then, based on your input, I will provide a general overview of the nutrition care plan. From there, we will work together to develop short term goals that may include a few specific but manageable changes in lifestyle, eating pattern and if needed dietary supplementation. In our follow-up appointments, we’ll begin to explore more detailed nutrition strategies and targeted education based on your needs.
