About Cinda
Food and teaching have guided my work for 15 years. I earned a BS in General Dietetics and an MS in Food and Nutritional Sciences from Tuskegee University, followed by an MPH in Behavioral Health Education and Promotion from Jackson State University. My career spans hospitals, private practice, research and academia, community health, and leadership as a Clinical Nutrition Manager. As a registered and licensed dietitian, I find deep satisfaction in helping clients translate nutrition science into everyday habits that feel both sustainable and enjoyable. When Iâm not reviewing charts or developing educational resources, you can often find me gardening on my patioâa grounding reminder that steady, small care produces lasting growth. I now call National Harbor, Maryland, home, but my roots run deep in Jackson, Mississippi. A true Southern belle at heart, I find my greatest joy in guiding people through the daily adjustments that make eating both nourishing and pleasurable.
Approach to care
Nutrition provides the scientific blueprint for a healthy, energized life. Nutrients define the journey, and the Registered Dietitian illuminates the path with evidenceâbased knowledge, clarity, and compassion, empowering individuals to thrive. â Cinda J. Catchings Evidence and compassion guide the way I work with people. Grounded in current research and my training as an RDN with an MS and MPH, I focus on clear, practical steps we can use together. I practice through a weightâneutral, Health at Every Size lens, centering behaviors and overall wellâbeing rather than a number on the scale. My approach is holisticâattending to sleep, stress, community, and foodâand educational, so you understand the âwhyâ behind each change. I aim to be direct and actionâoriented while remaining warm and nonjudgmental, always prioritizing sustainable habits over quick fixes.
Your first session with Cinda
During your initial visit, weâll review your medical history along with any lab work or biometrics so we have a clear, evidenceâbased starting point. Weâll talk through your routines, wins, and frustrations, then set one or two shortâterm goals that feel realistic for your life. Iâll explain the âwhyâ behind each recommendation so you can make informed choices, and together weâll translate those ideas into practical steps to try between visits. This is a lowâpressure, judgmentâfree conversation. Taking one day at a time, lifestyles develop with time and consistency.
